Vaquita
Sea Shepherd is our favorite organization when it comes to fighting against the extinction of the beautiful Vaquita. They accept donations in all crypto currencies, which is one of our requirements.

That's me, the Vaquita
I'm the Vaquita or Californian harbor porpoise. My name means little cow, so we are also called calves of the seas. I'm just one and a half meters long and weigh only 55 kilos, making me the smallest whale in the world. My round head with a short snout is characteristic of me. Around my eyes I have a dark ring around my eyes. I am very shy and usually travel alone or only with a few other porpoises. If I'm lucky I live to be about 22 years old. My food is fish, squid and shrimps.
Habitat
I'm an endemic species, I am only found in the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico.
There are so few of us left
Whether we have any chance of survival at all is questionable. For years we have been getting fewer and fewer. There are probably only 10 to 12 of us left.
That's why we have problems
Our reproduction rate is very low. We only mate once a year and then have a gestation period of 11 months, after which we only give birth to one calf. We only have a very small habitat and it is heavily fished. I end up as by-catch. Often I get tangled up in gillnets underwater and then I can no longer get to the surface to breathe. Although a biosphere reserve has been established, where fishing is prohibited, people still illegally fished for totoaba and conservationists are even killed or threatened with their lives by criminal cartels.
The adorable Slow Loris is more than just our mascot. It's a symbol of the delicate beauty and vulnerability of all endangered species. With RescueLoris, we've taken the playful nature of meme culture and infused it with a powerful purpose, to protect and preserve the creatures that share our planet.
